Adding Custom Protocols

Custom dissectors implement IProtocol with a public Parse method. First parse of each packet id is ordered and single-threaded; re-parse of an already-first-parsed id may run concurrently. Stateful protocols key EffectStore<T> with Packet.GetEffectLayerKey. RegisterStandardProtocols returns PDU Transport and Signal Message SettingsLoadWarning values for the caller.   • Keep protocol registration deterministic during stack construction.
  • Validate assumptions at trust boundaries when parsing third-party captures.
  • Use versioned release processes when introducing custom protocol behavior in shared systems.
