Automatically Format Images to WebP

This middleware will automatically format HTTP requests for media (jpeg, jpg, png) to the webp format if the browser supports it.

The middleware accomplishes this conversion by modifying the query string in the request and adding format=webp. The ImageSharp library, a dependency of Umbraco, handles this request and formats the image accordingly. The middleware will not convert an image if the author explicitly requests another format.
