FeXtensions

Provides some Monads for use in .NET

Maybe

Maybe represents an object that may or may not have value. This removes the need for a null object.

Extensions can be used conditionally access a Maybe object. For example:

Maybe<int> possibleNumber = GetMyNumber();

possibleNumber.Do((number) => Console.WriteLine($"My number is {number}"))
	.Otherwise(() => Console.WriteLine("I have no number"));

Either

Either can be one type or another type. This is useful when handling exceptions for APIs or other complex logic. For example:

Either<ApiResult, Exception> result = _apiClient.MakeCall();

Console.WriteLine(
	result.Map(result => result.StatusCode, exception => exception.Message));

IEnumerable

Some useful extensions have been added for working with IEnumerable<T>

ICollection<Item> collection = _data.Fetch();

// Do is lazy and does not invoke its action until the collection is enumerated.
collection.Do(item => Console.WriteLine(item.Name);

// ForEach iterates the collection and performs the action immediately.
collection.ForEach(item => item.Name += " iterated");

// Modify iterates a copy of the collection, allowing the for the collection to be modified.
collection.Modify(item => collection.Remove(item));
